Everyone's lined up at the gate
Waiting for the shot to fire
Your money's on number seventeen
Blame it on skill when you win
Blame it on luck when you don't
You make a gamble of everything
Take a chance on me...
Take a chance on me...
The say that she's too old for the game
Her heart is tired, her legs are lame
But once she is gone, she's gone forever
But you see the fire in her eyes
The odds don't count how hard she tries
She wants to win and you believe her
Take a chance on me...
Take a chance on me...
And they're off, and they're off and they're off and they're running
And they're off, and they're off and she's falling behind
And they're off, and they're off and they're rounding the corner
And they're off, and they're off and she's made up her mind
There she goes...
After they run that final race, we file out one by one
But you've got that ticket in your hand
The payout's not bad for second place
But you had faith in someone
It's something I want to understand
Take a chance on me...
Take a chance on me...
Take a chance on me...
Take a chance on me...

Abilene
Kate Klim
They made us learn the history in school
How this was just a patch of land before the railroad tracks came through
And they would stop here as they made their way out west
Now the trains don't come so often but the people never left
Growing up, our street was the last on the edge of the town
And we would run along that tree line until the Texas sun went down
If we were lucky, a plane from the base would pass them by
And we would watch them fly, we would watch them fly
Sometimes the summers got so hot they'd melt the blacktop
Little houses made a patchwork quilt of green
And it hits me every time I cross a train track
How every road still leads me back to abilene
Abilene, Abilene
The air force guys got to live on the base for free
So they would spend their cash on cars, and they would cruise them up the street
And it's been years but oh I've got my fast car now
And when I come back home I drive through every street in town
And the winters never bring us that much snow fall
But we made an art of hanging lights up in the trees
And it hits me every time some house is lit up like an airport
How every road still leads me back to Abilene
Abilene, Abilene
And they'll never close down the paramount
But there's a thrift store, where the Metro theater was
For every thing here that changes
There's something else that never does
In Abilene
They say that everything is bigger up in Dallas
New construction with some highways in between
And I guess you'd say that's where I make my home now
But by home that all depends on what you mean
'Cause every road still leads me back, every road still leads me back
to Abilene, Abilene, Abilene

Mary
by Kate Klim
Mary you have always been troubled
Mary your work will never be done
Happiness is like learning to juggle
To some is comes easy, to some it's hard won
Mary you were born in the winter
Maybe you just never found spring
How I hope that one day you find it
That silver lining
Cause I gave you my coat at the changing of seasons
I threw you a line when you thought you might drown
Now you stand at a doorway with all of your demons
And I can't follow you down
Mary I can't follow you down
Mary I get lost in your poems
Mary I get high on your songs
You told me once that the parts that are broken
Are the parts that are brilliant, you'll be sad when they're gone
But I gave you my coat at the changing of seasons
I threw you a line when you thought you might drown
Now you stand at a doorway with all of your demons
And I can't follow you down
Mary I can't follow you down
Oh and Mary, when you need me I'll be waiting on the other side
And Mary, when you're ready, I will be here with my arms stretched wide
But Mary this isn't my war
And Mary this isn't my fight
But I'll give you my coat at the changing of seasons
I'll throw you a line when you think you might drown
you stand at a doorway with all of your demons
And I can't follow you down
Mary I can't follow you down

With Your Heart
04:03
|

I had a plant once... but it died
Too much sun or too much water, I still cannot decide
I had a fish once... it died too
One day it just stopped swimming
There was nothing I could do
I had a sweater, pulled a string and it fell apart
I had a phone but I drove away while it was sitting on my car
Do you really want to trust me with your heart?
With your heart, with your heart
With your heart, with your heart
I knew a boy once, he was a lot like you
We were young and we were burning with the flame of something new
But it gets familiar, the colors fade
Then you're standing in a driveway and there's nothing left to say
'Cause it was easy when there was nothing on the line
If it's fragile I will break it if you give me enough time
You don't trust a girl with a history like mine
With your heart, with your heart
With your heart, with your heart
And you tell me, you're gonna take your chances
You say your heart is reckless, you've had a few close calls
I want you too much to stop you
And I like the way you look at me like you're not scared at all
I've got this plant now, it's doing fine
It's been 13 weeks and counting, maybe I'll pull it off this time...

Galileo Galilei
03:35
|
|||
The world will try to tell you that you're tiny
That it's far too big a place for you to change
And if I ever think like that remind me
Of Joan of Arc, of Galileo Galilei
Folks might like you better when you're quiet
And shown the truth, they'd rather look away
Back then they all said that they were pious
But they were really just afraid
Of what you saw up in that sky, Galileo, Galieo Galilei
When you look up at the stars, don't stop your dreaming
No we didn't get this far by standing still
If when you speak of what you find, no one believes it
I will... I will
The world will say it's safer to tread lightly
That it's better making deals than making waves
And if I ever speak like that remind me
Of Joan of Arc, of Amadeus, of Rosa Parks, of Frederick Douglass, of Galileo, Galileo Galilei
